{ Family Fun }

The early days of summer tend to bring out a spirit of family in us all. School is out for the next three months, and these bright, sunny days are perfect for reconnecting and recharging. We pack up the crew, slather on the sunscreen, and hit the parks, the lakes, and the beaches for days and weekends full of distraction-free quality time. Here in the Black Hills, we are especially lucky to find no shortage of perfect locales for these bonding rituals and family traditions.

I've been lucky enough to be invited along on some of these family outings, to capture the joy of these fleeting moments. All too soon the leaves will be turning, the wind will start to chill, and back to the daily routines of school and work and soccer we will return. Take advantage of these carefree days, and don't forget to capture it before it passes!

{ Holiday Portraits! }

{ Happy Halloween! }

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Any occasion that warrants a costume is alright in my book! And since having kids, the holiday has provided yet another joy - making pint-sized, imaginative costumes. This year, the request by my 4-year-old and 2-year-old was for two superhero princess get-ups. I was happy to oblige.

{ Where Am I? }

I've found myself asking that very question several times over the past months. I found myself going MIA from the blog world for a few months as chaos set in around me. A summer booked full of weddings, early autumn spent traveling, and now - hopefully - things are finally settling in for a while. I just returned from shooting a beautiful wedding in San Antonio, I'm almost through proofing all my weddings from the end of the summer, and senior season is in full swing!

If you are a high school senior and haven't yet booked your senior session, don't wait much longer! Autumn is the ideal time for shooting your portraits, before the snow and winter winds set in. The changing leaves make an ideal backdrop for those outdoor portraits!
